In a stunning move backed by the National Rifle Association, the Nevada Republican Party moved to nominate "Gus", a high powered sniper rifle owned by an infamous Scout Sniper turned celebrity who donated the gun to the GOP after party leaders put out calls looking for a suitable candidate.
"Gus is a real lucky catch" told GOP spokesman Lye N. Devious, "He really brings out the true character of the GOP. Hopelessly short sighted but great for long distance shooting!" Devious also noted "Gus saves us time, instead of having to directly threaten liberal politicians, we just elect Gus instead!"
Liberal commentators where quick to react after the announcement, calling it a "Farce" and a "Sick Joke". However polls show Gus already beating several major contenders in the Republican field and coming within ten points the his Democratic opponent.
