Producers Launch "Fyre Festival II" Reality Show Where Rich Kids Fight for Survival on an Impoverished Caribbean Island

By Lana Piranha

There was controversy today in the entertainment world after producers announced the launch of "Fyre Festival II" as a reality TV show. The show attempts to replicate the environment of chaos and survival which gripped the failed 2016 Fyre Festival when party goers where forced to fight for food and water with other attendees.

Though widely seen as a disaster, some reality television producers saw a golden opportunity to cash in on the event.  Daily Q's own Lana Piranha spoke to Spark Sellquick, an entrepreneur and  Fyre Festival II co-producer.  "When I heard what had happened"  Says Sellquick, "I was devastated of course, but then we started hearing some of the details, and then a conversation started about how a lot of people across a wide audience found it entertaining.  That's when we thought of making the show."

According to Sellquick, actual planning began last year when producers of the show "Survivor" agreed to get on board with the idea.  "It was a major breakthrough"  says Sellquick, "We had a 6 million dollar budget and a green light from the board of directors.  So we shot big.  The first season will have 12 episodes, each featuring a unique failed festival or event in a different location, each with certain challenges and prizes, at the end of each show, 10,000 dollars is awarded to the contestant who came out on top."

The announcement proved controversial however, as some channels promised to boycott the production and many denounced it as capitalizing off the suffering and toil of working people, despite its open mockery of the rich.  Producers of the show were quick to point out that, despite the original Fyre Festival's profoundly grotesque record on paying low wage workers, Fyre Festival II would pay its workers a full living wage and provide insurance even to its part time employees.

The show is set to premier this fall and audiences are brimming with anticipation.  Daily Q will continue to follow this story and bring you updates as they occur.
