Critics are buzzing about the release of a new trailer for X-Men Origins: Genesis, the newest installment in the series which appears to show the X-Men in Biblical times taking part in several well known Bible stories.
Fans had mixed reactions to the trailer, some saying the franchise had completely eclipsed previous established lore by simply doing whatever it wants. Many pointed to a scene in the trailer which appeared to show Wolverine as Moses having his adamantium claws put in by Pharaoh's surgeons in Egypt. In another, a young Magneto is broken out of a concentration camp by old professor X and several characters yet to be born for another 50 years.
The trailer also drew critics from Christian groups after one scene appeared to show the Juggernaut rescuing Jesus off the cross. "He just tackles his way through the roman legions" Says evangelical fanatic Luther Preachbarrel "Then he knocks down the cross, grabs Jesus and goes! It's Blasphemy!"
Some however seemed enthusiastic as fans online expressed excitement for the films October debut, many seeing it as simply a fresh reboot instead of contradicting an existing cannon.
Daily Q will continue to follow this story as the release date gets closer.
