There was chaos late last night throughout the nation as people everywhere reacted to the President's mysterious tweet appearing to claim that Martian space ships where invading Earth.
The late night tweet read "Really terrible whats happening with these Martians, we are just letting them come in here, no one is doing anything about it. Terrible. Its an Invasion." While many, especially on the right, struggled to justify the Presidents tweet in various ways, most are considering the fact that the 2005 version of "War of the Worlds" starring Tom Cruise was aired in a Fox Movie Channel special just two and a half hours before the tweet.
Families packed their cars and drove miles into the country side, people called or messaged their loved ones with desperate goodbyes, some towns even saw militias forming in the streets, armed and ready to fend off the alien threat.
It was only after announcements on the emergency broadcast system that most people returned to their homes and lives, however there still remain a contingent who believe the Martian take over was a success and the government is now secretly under their control.
